A web programmer is involved in writing and modifying scripts for a server. Every web programmer must, of course, know HTML and JavaScript, which are the “output” of his work, as well as one or more programming languages used on the server. As a rule, it is necessary to know Perl and PHP, a good web programmer also knows C/C++ and Java, in addition, it is practically necessary to know how to work with databases at the level of SQL and embedded procedures. Quite often, especially in medium and small projects, the functions of administrator and web programmer are performed by the same person.
When selecting a web programmer, there are two directly opposite approaches, each of which has the right to exist. Some companies are trying to hire programmers who know the maximum number of languages, rightly believing that this person will be able to select the most appropriate language for each task. Others prefer narrow experts, no less rightly believing that such people are thoroughly familiar with the intricacies of the language and can quickly solve any task. Well, the truth, as usual, is somewhere in the middle…
